About

HyphaStorm is a workbench for retro-tech tinkering. The current obsession is the original Xbox Alpha Tower, the beige prototype development kit Microsoft used to build the Xbox before the black box ever existed. It still boots a quarter of a century on, and I've been seeing how far I can push it: dumping drives, compiling with the period XDK, and getting software running on it that it was never meant to see.

The videos are the show-and-tell. This blog is the build log: the detail, the dead ends, and the notes I'd want if I were trying to do the same thing. Expect prototype hardware, the odd emulator port, and occasional detours like printing in clay on a powder printer that really should have known better.

Beyond the bench

When I'm not coaxing 25-year-old silicon back to life, I run a few other things: a Minecraft server with a homegrown plugin suite, and some music-video automation under Noeko. There's a fuller list on the projects page.

Follow along

The best place to catch new work is the channel. New videos get a build log here to go with them, and the Discord is where the chat happens.
